This is a list of minor characters in Lessons in Love.

今

今, also known as Nao and Ima, is a character who first appeared in Mother's Milk. They are a self-proclaimed embodiment of ever-changing fear and reside within a location they refer to as the "Wishing Well". It is unclear who or exactly what they are, but they seem to hold an extraordinary awareness of both who Sensei is and what he's done. As such, they hold him in extremely low regard.

They take a form resembling Ami, though the reason for this is unclear.

Amy

Amy is a character who first appeared in Amy. She bears a strong resemblance to Ami, but is apparently an entirely different person, having never even heard of Kumon-mi. Additionally, her body is extremely warped, having hairs which cut into fabric, lacking legs or hands, and is prone to frequent stomach aches.

She currently lives in a place referred to as the "Great Pareidolia Mall", an ever-expanding Mall that few people currently inhabit. She claims to have met Sensei before, telling him he helped "rip number 17" out of her mouth when her gums became infected.

Unlike Ami, Amy is notably more reserved and quiet, getting embarrassed at the prospect of holding hands, going on a date, and even struggled to initially approach Sensei upon their reunion. There are other traits Amy shares with Ami, though, such as both their mothers singing the song "Daisy Bell" to them as children, as well as their adoration of Sensei.

Throughout Sensei's "date" with Amy, she reveals many small bits of information about herself:

• Amy previously had a boyfriend. Their relationship came to an end, though, when he somehow fell into one of the "holes" found within the Mall. She adamantly claims she had nothing to do with this incident.
• Amy has a degenerative bone disease which prevents her from engaging in any strenuous activity. Despite this, she claims to be strong enough in order to lift Sensei up alone.
• Amy had once acquired a tapeworm, resulting in her needing to eat large amounts of bread in order to remove excess moisture from her body.
• Unlike Ami, Amy's mother is still alive, and the two regularly meet up on Wednesdays to get their retinal fluid refilled.

Barbara

Barbara is a character first seen during the event Times New Roman. She is a sentient cabinet that lives within Sensei's "house". At some point before the event, Sensei locked various things within her doors in order to keep himself from seeing them again. He subsequently gifted Barbara sentience and tasked her with keeping those things from him, should he ever feel the inclination to see them again.

She acts somewhat like a tired romantic partner towards him, becoming quickly annoyed by his antics and wanting to protect him from hurting himself.

Barista Who Only Shows Up In This Event

Barista Who Only Shows Up In This Event is a character only seen in Couple's Discount (Sea of Diamonds). She is a worker at the newly opened cafe that the group visits in order to take advantage of their couples' discount.

BIG BOI

BIG BOI is a character only seen during The Collector. They are a strange creature with clocks for eyes, formed of various objects, such as several arms, bones, clothing, and a hat with the words 'BIG BOI' written across the top. They appear to be a guard of sorts, monitoring the school rooftop during the 6th reset and directing 'interlopers' away. They ask Makoto and Ayane for a 'hall pass' as proof of their admittance to the rooftop.

They speak only in third person, and have the inexplicable ability to initiate 'Resets', in the same way Maya does.

Chiaki Chosokabe

Chiaki Chosokabe is the mother of Chika and Chinami. She first appeared via a picture in A Castle for Everyone, and physically appeared in Curry Night. Very little is known about her, aside from her daughters adoration of her. She was the sole caretaker of both Chosokabe sisters after her husband ditched her following the birth of Chinami and worked tirelessly to ensure the two girls were raised the best they could be.

She is suggested to have been asthmatic, requiring an inhaler after a particularly nasty coughing fit.

Doctor

Doctor is a character who first appeared in An Apple Each Day. They were a doctor who Yasu's mother took Yasu to in order to get a diagnosis on her daughter's condition. After arguing with her over the validity of his prognosis, he gives Yasu's mother a referral to another doctor to help in Yasu's treatment.

DOUBT

DOUBT is a character first seen during the event An Excerpt From a Waterlogged Journal. They are the roommate of Kyoko Nagasawa and are notably more mild-tempered than their seemingly quirky friend.

Emissary of Pegasus

The Emissary of Pegasus is a character who first appeared in Times New Roman. They appear to be a two-headed pegasus which lives inside the trash can of Sensei's "House". They ask Sensei for proof of his loyalty by relaying instructions on how to "find the sunset".

They are also the unseen entity Yasu was asking for guidance on how to help Sensei during the event Miserably Ever After.

Employee

Employee is an unseen character who first appeared in Meat-Pocket. They are one of several employees who work at an American-style diner that Osako takes Sensei out to. They appear to hate their job.

Frank: Friend of Takoyaki Son, Son of Takoyaki Man

Frank: Friend of Takoyaki Son, Son of Takoyaki Man is a character first seen during Stripped Away. He is the best friend of Takoyaki Son, Son of Takoyaki Man.

Freezer Rabbit

Freezer Rabbit is a character first seen in Times New Roman. They are a stuffed rabbit toy which lives atop Sensei's fridge, guarding a box of "EnviroKids Organic Gorilla Munch" cereal. They appear to be indifferent to Sensei himself, despite living in his "house".

They end each sentence with the suffix "-pyon".

Gary

Gary is a character who first appeared in Dead in the Water. Initially referred to Other Yakuza Dude, he is one of many Yakuza members who are stationed at the Yamaguchi Estate. He's seemingly a friend of Yakuza Dude. He is also, seemingly, on good terms with Yumi as she speaks fondly of him on multiple occasions.

His status within the Yamaguchi clan seems to be shaky, as by the time of Douchebag McDouchefuck he's been forced to give up his pinky as recompense for some unstated incident.

Geoffrey

Geoffrey is an unseen character first mentioned in A New You. He is Ayane's butler and is often mentioned or referenced as being the primary enabler for Ayane's various antics. His past is shrouded in mystery, with the various girls in Sensei's class making references to dramatic moments or hijinks of his, such as a run-in with the Italian Mob, his past with the Irish Mafia, avenging his dead family, or his tendency to overblow simple requests from Ayane. Some time prior to Eggside Octopus, he is reunited with his long-lost son. Makoto briefly meets him during the class' Halloween party.

Geoffrey's Son

Geoffrey's Son is an unseen character first mentioned in Eggside Octopus. As his name suggests, he is the son of Geoffrey, the butler of the Amamiya manor. Geoffrey's son was previously estranged from his father, having been missing for years due to unstated reasons. He unexpectedly showed up on the door to the Amamiya manor sometime before the class' fourth Halloween together and quickly reconnected with his father.

He seems to enjoy ice-skating, as Ayane mentions Geoffrey and his son taking a day off to do so.

Gossamer, God of Torment

Gossamer, God of Torment is a character first seen during Episcopalis: Pickled Plums & Polyrhythmic Psalms. They are a being with a female body, a head composed of a wedding bouquet, and scissor blades and spider legs sprouting from their back – As such, Sensei initially refers to them as the 'scissor angel'.

They appear to Sensei in a dream of his, where they implore him to rise from his bed and face the outside world after shutting himself out of it following Not the Nightingale. While this motive appears kind, they warn that, should he choose to continue being so stagnant, they will cut him into a string and turn him into a "puppet".

They claim to reside in Heaven's Web, a place with no escape and no sorrow. According to them, more beings reside there than just them. They're also able to speak Arabic.

Haruka's Husband

Haruka's Husband is the unnamed husband of Haruka. He has been married to her for years, having been each other's first loves. He was drafted into the space war before the events of the game. While his status was unknown for a long time, it is confirmed during The World Outside The Walls that he's still alive, haven't apparently never been deployed to the front lines.

Jimmy

Jimmy is a character who is initially mentioned during Swimming With Sharks as being the son of Totally Legitimate Mother (Mary) before later being seen during Mother May I. He's a, supposedly, young boy who's been chained to his computer by a video game development studio and forced to continuously produce content for ten years.

This is most likely a reference to Selebus, the real-world developer of Lessons in Love, and the projected development time for the game's full-scope.

Kanon

Kanon is a character who first appeared in Rain King, and is a character from the game Grow Old. Then Die.. She seems to be a guardian of sorts for Tsurumi and has an unseen brother. It's implied that she, along with Tsurumi, reside primarily within a sewer.

Kirin and Karin's Father

Kirin and Karin's Father is a character who is never seen on-screen, being occasionally mentioned by his daughters in passing. Very little is known about him, other than him having a very good relationship with Karin and a comparatively worse one with Kirin.

While his exact profession is unknown, it is implied his job is of some great importance, as he is one of the few males who weren't drafted in the ongoing space war.

As revealed in Debbie Downer, he possibly went to school with Ami's mother, remembering her as someone who cuts class a lot and having the quirk of only reacting to her given name.

Kyoko Nagasawa

Kyoko Nagasawa is a character who first appeared during the event An Excerpt From a Waterlogged Journal. She appears to be the resident of an unspecified home filled with other people, being the roommate of DOUBT. She seems to be especially mischievous and playful, specifically going out of her way to sell herself as "unpredictable" and "exciting".

This name previously appeared during the fake credits played during the event, Eighth Eye of the Wolf Spider.

Their name suggests a connection to Nodoka Nagasawa, but it's unclear if there is any connection at all or if it is simply a coincidence.

Manny the Friendly Maggot

Manny the Friendly Maggot is a character only seen during the event A Life of Prizes. He is supposedly one of Sensei's friends and provides him with companionship as he tries to solve the various magazine sweepstakes scattered around his room. The two only speak once, with them bonding over their shared hatred of puzzles in video games.

According to him, he has yet to figure out the solution to the event Word of the Day.

Masahiro Miyamura

Masahiro Miyamura was the father of Makoto and Maki's husband. He was recruited into the space war and died of asphyxiation two months prior to Whispers of the World.

Matthew

Matthew is a character who first appeared in Chashu (A Cracked Bowl). He was a customer at Sara's Bar during its first public Christmas party. He was asked by Sara to retrieve some equipment from one of the store's backrooms. By his next appearance in Stutter-Step, he's become a regular patron of Sara's Bar, visiting enough to know Yuki by name.

Maya 2

Maya 2 is a character first seen during Utinam Ne Illum Numquam Conspexissem. She is a miniature version of Maya with an engorged head, capable of only saying the words "Cha cha cha". She constantly follows around the "happy" version of Ami, who apparently obtained her in order to get Sensei to pay her more attention.

Miu Miyahara

Miu Miyahara is a character who first appeared in Rain King. She is a character from the game Nothing is Beautiful, in which she is a member of an unofficial afterschool club she and her friends have formed. She's never interacted directly with Sensei, but has shown to have little patience for the antics and sarcasm of her friend, Yuu. She doesn't seem to like Saki Sakurazaka.

Moyo Makinamo

Moyo Makinamo is a character who first appeared in The Room With Clocks. They are a disfigured version of Maya, with mangled fingers and strange splotches on her skin. She doesn't seem to be entirely sentient, acting more akin to a pet that 79 looks after, with the two rarely appearing apart.

Whenever Moyo attempts to speak, her voice comes out as a blaring screech.

Nodoka Fans

Nodoka Fans are a collection of characters first seen in This is Us, where they are all fans of the in-game writings of Nodoka.

Parrot the Parrot

Parrot the Parrot is a character first seen in Times New Roman. They are Sensei's pet parrot that he often forgets to feed or give water. Despite this neglect, Sensei seems to be attached to the bird, feeling remorseful when the parrot expresses discontent with his life.

They have a pet coconut crab which is kept right next to their nest.

People on the Screen

The People on the Screen are a duo of unseen characters first heard during The Final Human on the Face of the Earth. They are both off-screen characters whom appear in a video that Sana is watching in the aforementioned event. They are compromised of Man on the Screen and Girl on the Screen. Their relationship appears to be antagonistic and abusive.

Produce Delivery Administration employees

The Produce Delivery Administration employees are a set of characters first seen in the event Eighth Eye of the Wolf Spider. They are all employees of the aforementioned Produce Delivery Administration (PDA), an organization first mentioned by Tsuneyo during Like Noodles in the Wind, which is apparently responsible for the delivery of produce to restaurants in Kumon-mi. They include:

• Right Hand Man, a kind, professional employee tasked with produce delivery.
• Left Hand Man, a constantly screaming employee tasked with handling furniture-related complaints. He is apparently constantly angry.
• Mike, initially introduced as Middle Man, an empathetic employee which handles clerical work.
• Sharon, initially introduced as Middle Woman, an impatient employee who is Mike's partner, both in work and seemingly romantically. Both she and Mike are shown to be very high-strung.

Random Karate Person

Random Karate Person is an unseen character who first appeared in Stutter-Step. They appear to be friends with Yakuza Dude, having tried to spar with them inside of Sara's Bar.

Prior to v0.24.0, the character was unseen but appeared during the Events Martial Arts and The Battle for Kumon-mi, where they were a nondescript student of Osako's at the Dojo. During said Events, they express slight annoyance with Ayane and her frequent mischief.

Reina Ritsushima

Reina Ritsushima is an unseen character first mentioned during Eighth Eye of the Wolf Spider. She is a character from the game Nothing is Beautiful and is a member of an unofficial afterschool club along with her friends Yuu, Saki Sakurazaka, and Miu Miyahara.

Rie Rokuhara

Rie Rokuhara is an unseen character that is first mentioned during James and the Giant Peach (Together-ish). She's the former partner of Rika Rokuhara and, as such, is Rin's other mother. Very little is known about her, aside from small tidbits shared by both Rika and Rin, such as the latter's admiration of her beauty, how Rika and her became a couple, how their relationship slowly deteriorated over the years, and how it ended with their break up after an unknown incident that occurred around the event Again, I Can't Recall.

Saki Sakurazaka

Saki Sakurazaka is a character who first appeared in Everything is Connected. She is a character from the game Nothing is Beautiful, in which she is a member of an unofficial afterschool club she and her friends have formed. She's extremely kind and polite to Sensei during their short interaction. She's implied to have a crush on her best friend, Yuu.

Saki is also the name of Sensei's mother.

Salvador Dalí

Salvador Dalí is a character based on the real-life Spanish surrealist artist of the same name. He first appears during Essence of Eiderdown, where he talks to Sensei during one of his "blackouts". The two speak entirely in Spanish, where he gives Sensei advice on how to "see the sunset".

He has a pet cat named "Frankie".

Sana's Brother

Sana's Brother was the brother of Sana and the son of Sara. He died sometime before the start of the game, and the circumstances around his death were long shrouded in mystery, due mostly to both Sara and Sana's discomfort discussing him. It was eventually revealed in Mine (Yours) that he was stabbed to death on the way back home from his friend's place.

Sensei's Legs

Sensei's Legs are a set of characters who first appeared in Backwards Dancing. They are Sensei's legs which were mysteriously granted sentience at seemingly random. Left Leg is snarky, individualistic, and very resentful of Sensei for always walking on them. Right Leg meanwhile was "born with" a neurological deficiency, rendering him unable to speak in anything but strings of numbers.

Taco Man

Taco Man is a character who first appeared in Something Less Lonely. He is the cashier in a Mexican restaurant that Sensei takes the Tsukioka family out to during their day-trip to the Entertainment District. His brother was one of the janitors at the school who was killed by Ayane.

He briefly appears in Stutter-Step as one of Sakaki-bar-a's patrons, wherein he's prematurely kicked out and forced to sleep in the subway, something he's apparently done before.

Tony: Takoyaki Son, Son of Takoyaki Man

Tony: Takoyaki Son, Son of Takoyaki Man is a character who's first seen in Stripped Away, where he is a vendor located within the amusement park that Sensei and Tsuneyo visit. He gets extremely nervous speaking to women, causing him to often scream and shout obscenities at them instead. He's best friends with Frank: Friend of Takoyaki Son, Son of Takoyaki Man, the both of whom managed to dodge the draft which sent most other men into space.

His name is revealed to be Tony during Stutter-Step. His opinion of Sensei seems to sour during this encounter, claiming that he "ruins everything he touches".

As suggested by his name, he is the son of the takoyaki vendor seen during Takoyaki. The two are shown to be on bad terms.

The Old One

The Old One is an entity first described in I Really Want to Stay at Your House, but only if the player chooses "Yes" during No One Can See Us, where the player is prompted with answers in order to summon it.

Its appearance is evocative of the type of drawings children with histories of trauma sometimes produce, with thick sketchy lines composing its body. It's most distinct characteristics are that it makes a new friend every 5 years and has a nose that always points east.

The Old One makes his first physical appearances at the end of Eternity Until after Nao-chan made a sketch of it, and it can be seen in the background of some of the following events like I Won't Say I'm In Love and Times New Roman.

Totally Legitimate Mother (Mary)

Totally Legitimate Mother (Mary) is a character who first appeared during Swimming With Sharks. She is a spokeswoman for a faux-advertisement that is played during the middle of the event as part of a gag. She has a son named Jimmy whose recent addiction to the game being advertised has started to fracture their family dynamic, and so begs for the developers to help her "save her son".

She is later briefly seen during Mother May I as part of a similar gag.

Tsuneyo's Father

Tsuneyo's Father is the father of Tsuneyo. He is extremely ill and lives isolated in the apartment above Tojo Ramen.

Tsurumi

Tsurumi is a character who first appeared during Rain King, and is a character from the game Grow Old. Then Die.. She appears to be in the care of Kanon and Kanon's brother.

Voice Over PA

The Voice Over PA is an unseen character first seen in Times New Roman. They are a voice that plays over the PA system in Sensei's "house", relaying information to him about the outside world and insisting Sensei doesn't attempt to leave his home.

Wormwood

Wormwood is one of Yasu's many stuffed rabbit toys. He is first seen during Down The Rabbit Hole where he's one of the members of a tea party Yasu's holding in order to celebrate the return of summer. While normally little more than a stuffed toy, Sensei is able to hear him speak on one occasion, where he warns Sensei that he must fulfill "his role" lest he and everyone else falls further down the "rabbit hole".

According to Yasu, he is fond of dried papaya.

Yakuza Dude

Yakuza Dude is a character first seen in Dead in the Water. They are a Yakuza member who is stationed at the Yamaguchi estate. They appear to be friends with Gary.

Yasu's Mother

Yasu's Mother is a character that first appears during An Apple Each Day, though only as an off-screen voice. She had to take care of Yasu due to her already showing her abilities at a young age, with her having tried to get rid of them by bringing her to multiple doctors. Between her daughters strange powers, her husband going mad because of them, her having to quit her job to take care of Yasu 24/7, and no doctor being able to cure her daughter and only make her more miserable with their treatments of Yasu's supposed schizophrenia, she grew more impatient, tired and aggressive over time, something that's shown during a session with the most recent Doctor she went to.

At the end, she took their advice to treat her daughter with antipsychotic injections, ignoring and not caring about any possible side effects these injections may cause. It's currently unknown what her current status is.

Yomiel

Yomiel is one of Yasu's many stuffed rabbit toys. While he is first seen during Down The Rabbit Hole, he is not mentioned by name, with his first named and speaking appearance being during いないいない。。。ばあ！. In said event, he's the special guest the Plants invited to one of their meetings in hopes he could provide more information about the mysterious woman who's been haunting Sensei. He's unable to do so, resulting in Plant 4 and him getting into a brief fight.

According to him, he and his brethren have been placed all throughout Kumon-mi to act as silent observers.

Yuu

Yuu is a character who first appeared during Rain King, and is the main protagonist from the game Nothing is Beautiful. He is a young man who was born with severe psychosis, causing him to see and hear things others don't. He is a member of an unofficial afterschool club formed by him, Saki Sakurazaka, Miu Miyahara, and Reina Ritsushima.
