After finally arriving at the party, Ayane wonders if they should look for Ami and Maya or let them have their moment, but Sensei doesn't care for the latter and only wants the former to arrive safely. Ayane thinks he's too mean to Maya even when she isn't the one they know, and Sana wants to know if something happened to Maya. Ayane tries to explain it, but since Sana isn't aware anymore, she ends up in the usual reply loop until Sensei asks Ayane to stop. While Ayane ponders on why Sana isn't aware anymore when she remembers her being so at the beach, Sensei wonders if he can enjoy Halloween again, though when he's approached by Uta and Io, he realizes he can't.
While Uta's happy he's back, he tells her he won't be coming to school any time soon, which worries her due to Ami attending school again, though she still doesn't tell him why. Ayane and Sana decide to take a seat, leaving Sensei alone with the two girls, which worries him since he was left behind by the girls he felt safe with and is in the presence of two he doesn't due to their pasts and how they make him feel. Uta continues the conversation, but Io asks if she can have a private talk with him, and Sensei agrees to follow her to an empty room.
Meanwhile, Ayane congratulates Io on being the first to be alone with Sensei during a party, a game she invented for herself so she can cope with Sensei being so popular and having less time for her, though when Sana asks if Io being the winner means anything, she doesn't think it does because Io isn't on the list and she doesn't feel like that has changed since then. Sana wants to know how Ayane can handle her jealousy so well, but she just learned to be used to it, something Sana will have to learn as well. She also advises her not to do anything rash, but Sana reveals what she did when she got jealous, which makes Ayane uncomfortable due to how detailed it is and how it goes against her cute persona.
Not wanting to answer her questions about jealousy, Ayane changes the subject, and Sana tells her about a daydream she had about her brother, which concerns Ayane given the previous topic, and tells her about her trip to the other dimension. Ayane is surprised to hear she saw her brother when this rarely happens, which is why she's worried she's going insane, considering that she sees other weird stuff too. Ayane feels like they see this because of the world, but even that causes Sana to repeat herself, which drives her mad.
If he decided to leave, Io thanks him, but she feels he doesn't like her anymore or that she owes him for his act of kindness, and it takes Sensei some effort to make her understand that he still likes her and how he left because he won't make her do something she doesn't want to. While Io tries to comprehend that she's finally free, Sensei apologizes for failing to protect her, but she claims he didn't just protect but save her, something she's eternally grateful for, and wants to stay with him forever. Io wonders how someone as broken as her managed to get someone like him, but Sensei tells her to stop seeing herself as broken for experiencing something she had no choice in. He promises to stay with her and show her love to the point where she will want to change their relationship, and while Io doubts she will, she also acknowledges how the future is unpredictable, which she finds both terrifying and exciting.
If Sensei decided to "break" her, Io tells him she doesn't blame him for what happened, and she accepts this showcase of affection from him and won't fight it anymore. However, in return, she wants him to make her feel loved in a different way and have a future with her. Sensei tells her it shouldn't be like this, and while Io agrees, but, given her past, she has no other choice since every time he showed her love was during unpleasant moments, yet she still believes in the existence of love, even if she has no idea how it looks like. She apologizes for being broken and being difficult, but Sensei tells her to stop seeing herself as broken for experiencing something she had no choice in. He apologizes that he only knows one way of love, but Io is fine with it as long as he indulges her selfish demands.
