Sensei is experiencing another "blackout" where the world is reversed, and when it returns to normal, he receives a call from Chika, who asks him to look after Chinami since she's sick and she can't do it since it's her first work day at the Pareidolia Mall. Sensei agrees and gives her some tips on how to survive at her new workplace.
While the conversation probably never occurred like this, Sensei agreeing to watch over a sick Chinami was real, and so he's currently in their apartment, pretending that he's married with Chika and that he's taking care of his daughter to morally justify him being there. He gets closer to the sleeping Chinami and observes her current state. Despite having agreed to look after her, he has no clue how to take care of someone who's sick, and he can't treat her like Ami when she's sick. He quickly looks up what he can do, feeling guilty that he might've caused her sickness during his last visit, especially since her sister is already suffering from "rabies" because of him. While he prepares a washcloth at the sink, he remembers their first meeting and how his intention to protect her is tested today.
After returning to Chinami and putting the cloth on her head, he sits next to her and reads a book he bought on the way over, contemplating his desire to change and the inherent evil of man. While he monologues, Chinami slowly wakes up and sees him next to her, being happy to hear that he will take care of her, but her enthusiasm lowers when he refuses to play games with her. He instead asks if she wants something, and after jokingly asking for peanuts, she wants him to make some pancakes, which he could make since he successfully made some for his other daughter.
Chinami is happy, but quickly realizes he said "other daughter" and sits up in shock due to her misinterpreting what that meant. He explains he was referring to his niece and, therefore, there is no one who would take her spot, and Chinami quickly moves on from this and wants some pancakes now. However, Sensei won't make her some since he tries to be responsible and thinks she should eat something healthy, but Chinami hoped he would be his usual irresponsible self and let her eat unhealthy food. Sensei insists she should eat some soup, offering to order her some since he hasn't learned how to prepare some yet, and, considering past experiences, probably never will.
Chinami begrudgingly agrees, though wants to take a bath first. Sensei doesn't mind and asks if she needs help preparing it, but she can do it herself and only asks for his company and to watch over her while she's in the bath. He tries to refuse, but when she tells him it's fine for a father to watch over his daughter and even begs him to come with her, he tells her it's a terrible idea since he's a terrible human who might harm her even when he doesn't want to. Chinami expresses her trust in him and asks him to accompany her one final time.
He either agrees, after which he has a hard time convincing himself that this is normal, or he refuses, with Chinami accepting it, but she warns him that she will haunt him if she dies, though he tells her to get in line in that case.
If any of these aren't met, Sensei will vehemently and aggressively reject Chinami's plea, which causes her to fake being upset until a coughing fit stops her. He then sends her to take a bath alone and sticks around afterwards until Chika is back.
