In the next moment, it's 3 AM, and Sensei finds himself on the bridge he encountered Yumi during his first visit, and just like then, she's there as well. Yumi wonders if he has another mental episode, which he has as something resets his conversation with her multiple times before he can move on. She informs him about [[Kid of the Month|her getting a job]], but when he's surprises she found one without him and asks how her life has been, she reminds him that they aren't friends and is only confused by his question.

Sensei blatantly requests her help, something he can only ask her for since everyone else is too nice to him when he doesn't deserve kindness, and while she realizes he's serious right now, she can't help him with his issues due to not knowing him or his past and not believing she could help him even if she did. He wonders why she stopped for him, and she tells him that he looked like he wanted to jump down the bridge, which would most likely kill him. She invites him to accompany her to [[Chika]]'s old home until he feels less miserable, primarily to save herself from the anguish that him doing something rash in his state would bring her.

Once he arrives at the flat, he notices how different it feels without the Chosokabe's around. He thanks Yumi for her kindness and apologizes for his actions, but that makes her even more uncomfortable than his usual behavior. He also confesses the reason as to why he was absent for two months and how he's confused on how and what to feel anymore. Since he's starting to ramble, Yumi recommends he sit down and let her prepare some tea for him.
Once both are seated on the ground, Yumi asks if what he told them about Ami was true, which he confirms. She wasn't sure at first as she couldn't believe that he would want to live with someone who's clearly insane, and while Sensei can't deny that she is, he also defends her by claiming it's his fault and pointing out that Ami and her had rather similar circumstances – Both had to raise themselves, but Ami's parents weren't absent by choice, and he was unable to take their place and raise Ami in their stead.
Yumi can sympathize to an extend, but it doesn't change her mind about her needing actual help, which Sensei is aware off but also knows he can't provide it, and she can't help him either since she believes that everyone needs to help themselves first. He points out how others manage to be selfless and lead a happy life, like Noriko, Touka and Futaba, but he can't understand how they do it, even though he wishes he could so he can wake up one day without feeling miserable.
Yumi finds herself more and more unable to help him, and he apologizes for dumping all his worries on her. As he does, though, something forces him to make a shocking statement about her, terrifying her in the process. He tries to explain himself, but Yumi, having already recovered from her shock, assures him that everything is fine, having witnessed something similar recently with Tsuneyo already. He wants to know what exactly she told her, and Yumi explains that Tsuneyo asked some questions regarding a sleepover but spiraled into even weirder questions about seemingly random stuff.
At Tojo Ramen, Tsuneyo takes the order of a customer, who turns out to be Kaori ordering some tori shio ramen.
