CHAIN-LINK EVENT

After following a riverbank near the camp, Sensei runs into Yuki sitting near the river and wonders how he feels about her.
He calls out to her, and Yuki is surprised he wants to spend time with her when he could do that with girls he has a deeper relationship with. He wonders if not fitting in was the reason why she decided to be alone, but she explains she just wanted to relax in peace. She recalls the freedom she had in her past, with Sensei remembering some of the details she told him. He also acknowledges that she would be more capable surviving a war, but when she uses it to make fun of him, Sensei decides to leave, though changes his mind when Yuki offers him some beers, but will add the ones he drinks to his tab.
After taking a seat next to her, he asks if she remembers how the world outside of Kumon-mi looks like, which makes Yuki wonder if he wants to leave the city. He is at least playing with the thought of leaving as he wants to escape the things that haunt him here, but she tells him that moving to a new town will only serve as temporary distraction and his past will catch up to him sooner or later, speaking from personal experience. Therefore, she recommends to face whatever is tormenting him head on and either overcome it or die trying. She intends to not run away herself so Yumi won't attempt to get away from her, but Sensei reminds her that she did run away from her, which she knows and points out how things only started to change for her when she stopped.
Sensei thanks her for not giving up and being able to spend time with him now, which catches her off-guard. She asks him to not flirt with her like this, because she isn't used to being treated like this and also can't handle it when he calls her cute or shows his appreciation. She wonders if things would've been different if they were similar in age, though believes that being polar opposites would've prevented that, although Sensei thinks it would've worked out somehow.
He decides to take his leave, but before he does, a flustered Yuki begs him to not call her cute again, regardless of if he means it or not, as she doesn't want to mess things up with her boss or her daughter, and Sensei, not wanting to destroy the relationship between her and the aforementioned girls, promises to keep this in mind.
