Synopsis

After reciting a poem, a narrator describes how Maya arrives inside Ami's room and notices how the atmosphere and the girl living in it have drastically changed for the worse since her last visit, with Ami being in such a poor state that Maya feared she actually passed away. Ami hasn't moved an inch after Maya entered, with Maya admiring the strange beauty of this human statue before her, pondering on how she can restore it to it's former glory. The narrator points out that while Maya primarily cares for Sensei, she still appreciates the few other people she holds dear, with Ami being one of them.

Maya calls out to Ami, and she stays silent for a moment before she asks her to not waste her time on someone who's contagious and dying, yet Maya would die happily with her. Maya wonders when she will be fully recovered so she has a counter for Ayane's apparent insanity and rants about her recent behavior. Ami notices how everything has gotten weird during her absence, but when Maya points out how it was already getting weird while she was there, naming her threat as an obvious example, she agrees with her and confirms that thread was serious. After asking Maya if she can trust her, Ami requests she comes closer to her since her voice is still weak, and Maya immediately does so.

Kneeling next to her, she compliments Ami's new hairstyle, and Ami notices how Maya has become more open, wondering if Ayane's assumption was correct after all, something Maya really doesn't want to hear after two confrontations earlier, wishing to escape from that. Ami points out how she doesn't want to find it with her but with Sensei, no convinced by her denying it. Moving past it, Maya asks her to get better soon so she can come back to school, but Ami feels like she can't due to her insanity and the class not accepting her anymore after what she did, yet Maya assures her that she will still fit in and can always fake an apology to soothe things between her and the other girls.

After some light flirting which is interrupted by Ami, Maya lies next to her and acknowledges how she doesn't understand her sometimes. Ami claims the same about Maya and tries to make her confess who she has a crush on to proof her trustworthiness. Maya avoids answering and asks for her to proof it instead by telling her her true thoughts about her. Ami immediately does so and admits that Maya is too obsessed with wearing metaphorical masks – Ami can't recall a single moment during their time together where Maya wasn't hiding who she really is and what, and especially who, she values most in life. Maya promises that there isn't anyone, including Sensei, and lets Ami do anything she wants with her if she was lying, and Ami accepts this showcase of her friendship.

Ami tells her that Sensei is most likely at the shrine right now and sends Maya on her way.
