Being completely absorbed by the beautiful performance, Otoha tries to analyze the deeper emotional meaning of Maya's melody and wishes she could get a taste of the girl's feelings in any way possible as it's the most authentic demonstration of emotions she ever witnessed, a feeling that persists until Maya opens her eyes, revealing that this is normal to her. Seeing the contrast between the emotional composition and her unfazed expression, Otoha wonders what this girl has experienced and with whom, and how much beauty she might've missed already when this extraordinary, untapped one was only a few desks away from her. Her thoughts come to a stop when Maya notices her presence.
Maya apologizes for her performance, calling it confused and muddy, but Otoha is surprised to learn she can play violin. It doesn't surprise her, though, as they never interacted before this meeting and will most likely never interact again after this, so there is no reason to learn anything about each other. Despite this, Otoha ask her if they can talk, having no club today and nothing better to do, and Maya, after remembering that the light music club exited at all, agrees to talk with her and make the most of their only interaction.
After some quick questions about Maya's music skills, Otoha says that she can understand why she would prefer to play her music while no one is listening, doing the same thing herself, but Maya would prefer when people are listening, because it would be the only way she could reveal her feelings in an appropriate way. Although, she would be happier if she had no feelings at all as they're tedious and exhausting, a sentiment Otoha shares with her. Maya feels like experiencing feelings of others would be her thing, but Otoha reveals that, regardless of what her dating [[Rin]] might've suggested, she doesn't want to make experiences like her peers because she thinks all of those are tiresome and wants those events to end so she can focus more on her music, even though it clashes with her desire to live her life to the fullest.
She's feeling more at ease after listening to her performance, but Maya is feeling restless as she wished for a certain someone to hear it, though acknowledges that this would've been too convenient. Otoha assures her that the performance didn't go to waste as it caught her heart, with Maya feeling like she's trying to flirt with her and rejecting her immediately. After pretending to be heartbroken, Otoha can tell who this person is and, after confirming that everything said in this conversation will be confidential, confesses she also has a crush on a "cool asshole", albeit a pink-haired one. Hearing this, Maya thinks it's [[Noriko]], but when she admits it's [[Niki]], she makes her dislike of Niki known and feels offended that Otoha tried to flirt with her before.
As Otoha starts to flirt with her again, Maya thinks they should stop and go back to not knowing each other. Otoha asks why they should, and Maya tells her that knowing her will make everyone else seem so much worse.

"This Curse Called Youth" is an Event for Otoha Okakura.
Otoha is wandering down the halls after another tiresome school day. She is conflicted, partly due to Sensei's continued absence, but tries to ignore her inner turmoil and focuses on the silence around her, until the sound of a violin breaks the silence. Spellbound, she enters the room the music is coming from and finds Maya playing a violin solo to herself.
Maya feels like experiencing feelings of others would be her thing, but Otoha reveals that, regardless of what her dating Rin might've suggested, she doesn't want to make experiences like her peers because she thinks all of those are tiresome and wants those events to end so she can focus more on her music, even though it clashes with her desire to live her life to the fullest.
Hearing this, Maya thinks it's Noriko, but when she admits it's Niki, she makes her dislike of Niki known and feels offended that Otoha tried to flirt with her before.
As Otoha starts to flirt with her again, Maya thinks they should stop and go back to not knowing each other. Otoha asks why they should, and Maya tells her that knowing her will make everyone else seem so much worse.
