Synopsis

Futaba is finally ready to show Sensei a story she has written. She used a new notebook, because she would prefer not to show him the contents of the other one. When Sensei starts to read, however, he finds an odd story about an upside-down house at the edge of the universe. The girls who live in it have a "happy life devoid of any negative feelings whatsoever", provided they obey the rules. Sensei asks Futaba what he's reading, and she says that the story isn't the one she wrote at all. Sensei reads more of the story aloud — it talks about books which don't say anything and about a "horrible smell coming from the boiler room". Sensei doesn't read any further. Futaba says she has no idea how it her story could have been replaced by that one.
